NSW: Woman charged over kidnapping claim
SYDNEY, Feb 10 AAP - A woman has been charged with faking her own kidnapping near Wollongong.
A 27-year-old Farmborough Heights woman allegedly rang a family member on Thursday,
claiming she had been abducted and her kidnapper was demanding money for her release.
Police said they later received reports the woman was seen in the area the same day.
Yesterday, the woman attended a local police station regarding another matter and was arrested.
She was charged with causing a person by violence or threats to execute deeds, obtain
benefit by deception and make false representation resulting in a police investigation.
The woman was refused bail and is due to appear in Wollongong Local Court today.
